Gratitude to student organizations protesting the murder of student leader Samya and condemnation of ugly acts like propaganda, rumors and 'victim blaming'

Many student organizations and ordinary students, regardless of party affiliation, have protested against the murder of student leader Samya. I express my gratitude to them.

However, we have noticed with great sadness that online activists from a particular student organization are continuously spreading various false propaganda and rumors in the name of student leader Samy, and are engaging in 'victim blaming'. We condemn their ugly actions.

Like every leader and activist of Chhatra Dal, Shaheed Samya is also a fighter of the July-August mass uprising. You have seen the video footage of his courageous role in the movement. Students across the country have protested in anger over Samya's murder. A public protest rally was held on Samya's campus. Students from various educational institutions in Dhaka city participated in his funeral and protest rally. But the online people of an organization have tried with all their might to make the just protest rally controversial. In this case, they have spread false propaganda with pictures of old trucks.

They have spread deliberate lies and confusion by showing the similarity of the name of a labor party leader with the arrested accused in the Samya murder. Their organized behavior proves that they do not want a fair investigation or trial of the Samya murder. Rather, their political goal is to somehow blame the victim of the murder.

We condemn all these propaganda and lies. We demand a fair trial for the murder of martyr Samy.

The VC-Proctor of Dhaka University cannot escape responsibility for the murder of student leader Shahid Samya. Two murders have occurred in just nine months since they took office. Both murders could have been avoided if the administration had played a responsible role.

From the Tofazzal murder, the erasure of fascist Hasina's graffiti, the burning of Hasina's motifs in art to the murder of Chhatra Dal leader Samya, the incidents show that the Dhaka University area has become unsafe and risky for students due to the inaction of the VC and Proctor.
The VC and proctor of the university are responsible for ensuring a safe environment for students 24 hours a day in the High Court, Chankharpool, Bakshibazar, Palashi, Nilkhet, Kataban, Shahbagh, Suhrawardy Udyan, Bangla Academy, Metrorail, Dhaka Medical College gate, burn unit and adjacent areas of the Dhaka University campus and academic and residential halls outside the main campus and adjacent areas. Otherwise, students of Dhaka University may be victims of murder, robbery, theft, molestation at any time. Even brutal incidents like rape may occur. It is appropriate to resign the current VC and proctor for failing to ensure a safe campus for students.

Criminal gangs never commit crimes by measuring fine lines. A security cordon must be built around the campus for the safety of Dhaka University students.
