Expressing condolences over the tragic death of seven members of the same family in a road accident in Begumganj, Noakhali, and demanding proper investigation and preventive measures
A microbus bound for Lakshmipur lost control and fell into a canal in the Jagadishpur area of Purba Chandraganj in Begumganj upazila of Noakhali on the morning of August 6. Seven members of the same family were killed and four others, including the driver, were injured.
It is learnt that the deceased were returning home from Dhaka Airport after receiving a family member from Oman. According to the initial assessment of the fire service, the driver lost control of the vehicle due to drowsiness and the accident occurred.
I express my deepest condolences and sympathy on this tragic incident. May Allah grant the deceased paradise and give their bereaved families the strength to bear this loss.
The incident once again reminds us of the importance of ensuring proper training, health checks and regular working hours for drivers. It also highlights how overwork or lack of adequate rest can be fatal.
I urge the relevant authorities to conduct a prompt and impartial investigation to uncover the true cause of this tragic accident and take effective steps to prevent the recurrence of such accidents in the future. It is essential to take urgent steps to strengthen the working environment, training and monitoring systems for drivers.
