Chhatra Dal
After the establishment of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Ziaur Rahman realized that a strong student organization was needed for future BNP leaders, and in light of this, he founded the Chhatra Dal on 1 January 1979. The Chhatra Dal adopted a 19-point program, which was based on the structure and methods of the parent party BNP. The Chhatra Dal was the leading organization against the military ruler Hussain Muhammad Ershad in the 1990 democratic uprising.
