Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal has always been against mob terrorism.
Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal has always spoken against mob terrorism. But the interim government and administration have not been seen taking any effective steps to stop mob terrorism. In the last few days, we have seen the ugly form of mob terrorism in different parts of the country. This time, there was a heinous attack on the offices of daily newspapers Prothom Alo and The Daily Star and cultural organizations Chhayanaut and Udichi Shilpi Gosthi. We strongly protest this heinous incident.
The aspiration of the July mass uprising was a Bangladesh without discrimination, where there would be justice, freedom of expression for people regardless of party or opinion, and freedom of the media. But the recent attacks on the offices of various institutions, including the media, are completely contrary to that aspiration. The backdrop for these recent incidents has been created due to the unlimited failure of the interim government in terms of law and order and security.
As the country gears up for the 13th National Assembly elections, and the acting chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Mr. Tarique Rahman, who is a beacon of hope for all the people of Bangladesh, returns home on December 25, it has become clear to the people who are trying to create instability in the country and throw the country's future into uncertainty.
We have seen the statements of the president of the Rajshahi University Shibir and the VP supported by the Raksur Chhatra Shibir against the two media outlets. The statement of the secretary of the Jahangirnagar University Shibir calling for the destruction of two cultural organizations has also been published in the media. Again, we have seen the Shibir-supported DUCSU leaders condemning the attacks on Prothom Alo and the Daily Star. On the other hand, the Ameer of Jamaat has also been seen condemning the attacks on the media. Jamaat-Shibir is clearly following the dual policy of 'bite like a snake, sweep like a sorcerer'. We are calling on them to come out of this policy.
We have seen that various media institutions have been attacked using the name of Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi. However, we have seen Shaheed Hadi being vocal in favor of building institutions, not destroying them. As a result, those who are carrying out such attacks using his name are disrespecting Shaheed Hadi, they are working against Shaheed Hadi's aspirations and dreams.
In the larger interest of the country and the nation, we would like to make a sincere appeal to all the comrades of the anti-fascist movement, to refrain from any reckless activities. Let everyone cooperate in the democratic transition through responsible behavior. There is a fear from all quarters that if the transition to democracy does not occur, Bangladesh may become a failed state. If such a situation is created, the patriotic students and the public will be in danger and the fascist evil forces will benefit. Therefore, we would like to make a sincere appeal to everyone, not to fall into anyone's trap. Stand for democracy, justice and freedom.
Long live Bangladesh.
